About Department

The department of home science at Government maharani Lakshmi Bai girls PG College Indore is a well established as multi disciplinary academy unit dedicated to holistic development of students. Founded BA (home science) in 1969, B.Sc (home science) started in 1973, M.Sc (food and nutrition) started in 1982, M.Sc (clothing and textile) started in 1984,PhD in home science recognised as research centre is 1993. The department focuses on improving the quality of life through knowledge research and practical skills in areas that directly impacts individual family and communities. The department emphasis core areas such as resource management,Food sciences & nutrition, human development, textile apparel & design and extension education aiming to produce skilled, confident and social responsible graduates. The department has played us important role in academics excellence and continuous nurture students through teaching research community engagement. The vision of this department is to empower women through value based scientific education in home science fostering personal growth, professional, competence and community leadership
